August 25, 2010 @ 09:24 AM

War Child is excited to announce that their third annual Busking For CHANGE festival - a day of great music on the streets of Toronto - will take place this year on International Peace Day - Tuesday, September 21, 2010. Busking For CHANGE will take place between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 21stth at major street corners and in busy downtown buildings.  A full list of participating musicians and locations will be released soon. For up to date information and to make a donation, please visit www.warchild.ca/buskingforchange.

War Child’s second annual Busking For CHANGE festival in 2009 saw musicians hit the streets of Toronto (September), Calgary (October) and Vancouver (December) to busk for War Child.  Busking For CHANGE made its debut in Montreal in March 2010, and was also featured at the 2010 SXSW Music Festival, as well as Montreal’s Osheaga Music and Arts Festival earlier this summer.  The events have raised over $100,000 for children affected by war, and have been supported by over 100 musicians, including Our Lady Peace, Chantal Kreviazuk, Liam Titcomb, Default, illScarlett,

Down With Webster, The New Cities, Sebastien Lefebvre of Simple Plan, Die Mannequin, Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of Stars, Shiloh, Neverending White Lights, Hollerado, Rich Aucoin, James Black and Rick Jackett of Finger Eleven, and many more.

Busking For CHANGE
was inspired by Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, who spent twelve hours busking for War Child on Toronto streets in 2007, while publicizing his solo album, The Hunter’s Lullaby and filming the music video for the album’s first single. Raine raised $22,000 for War Child’s School Rebuilding Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
